Professor/Associate Professor (Tenure Track), Nursing Science - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The University of Eastern Finland is inviting applications for a post of Professor/Associate Professor (Tenure Track) in Nursing Science on the Kuopio campus. The position will be filled as from 1 August 2025 (or as agreed). Please find more information below and submit your application by 11 November 2024.

Role and salary    

As our new Professor/Associate Professor Nursing Science (Tenure Track), you will be working in the Department of Nursing Science at the Faculty of Health Sciences. The position is located in Kuopio, Finland.   

The post of Professor will be filled until further notice as from 1 August 2025. In the case of an Associate Professor (Tenure Track), the post will be filled for a four-year term starting on 1 August 2025. The position is filled for a fixed term due to it being a Tenure Track position.

The applicant for the post of Professor commits to holding a secondary post of Nurse Director in the Wellbeing Services County of North Savo as agreed upon separately with the Wellbeing Services County.

The duties of the Professor/Associate Professor of Nursing Science are:

• to lead and develop research and education in their field,
• to provide teaching in basic and scientific postgraduate education in nursing science,
• to acquire external research funding,
• to participate in social interaction in questions pertaining to their field, and
• to participate in international collaboration. 

Research, teaching and social activities focus on quality and patient safety, impact, promotion of health and well-being, and the prevention of long-term illnesses in the national and international operating environments in accordance with the strategy of the Department of Nursing Science and the Welbeing Services County.

The criteria, goals and results to be achieved during the term in order to proceed to the next level of the Tenure Track (Professor) will be agreed upon in detail with the person appointed as Associate Professor when signing the contract of employment. A probationary period is applied to all new members of the staff.   

The salary of the positions is based on levels 8–11 (EUR 5,223.57 – 7,697.25 /month) of the job requirement level chart for teaching and research staff in the Finnish universities’ salary system in the case of Professor, and on level 7 (EUR 4,320.23 /month) in the case of Associate Professor. In addition to a job-related salary element, a personal salary element is paid, which is 50% of the job-related salary element.

•  a doctoral degree in a relevant field,
• excellent written and spoken language skills in English,
• experience in the management of and working in research projects,
• demonstrated achievements in the acquisition of research funding and in international activities,
• experience in teaching and supervision.
