Professor/Associate Professor (Tenure Track), Biopharmacy

We are seeking a Professor/Associate Professor (Tenure Track) of Biopharmacy for the Faculty of Health Sciences. The position is located at the Kuopio Campus and will start on 01 August 2026 or as agreed. Read more below and apply by 15 January 2026.  

Position and Salary

As our new Professor/Associate Professor (Tenure Track) of Biopharmacy, you will be working in the School of Pharmacy at the Faculty of Health Sciences. The position is located in Kuopio, Finland.

The post of Professor will be filled until further notice as from 1 August 2026. In the case of an Associate Professor (Tenure Track), the post will be filled for a four-year term starting on 1 August 2026. The position is filled for a fixed term due to it being a Tenure Track position.

The duties of the Professor/Associate Professor of Biopharmacy include:

• Biopharmaceutical research relevant to drug development,
• Leading and supervising research activities, and securing external research funding
• Planning, development, supervision and implementation of Bachelor’s and Master’s level biopharmaceutical education
• Responsibility for scientific postgraduate education
• Other departmental duties

According to the decision by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, the selected Professor/Associate Professor of Biopharmacy is not required to have practical familiarity with the field of the post.

The criteria, goals and results to be achieved during the term in order to proceed to the next level of the Tenure Track (Professor) will be agreed upon in detail with the person appointed as Associate Professor when signing the contract of employment. A trial period is applied to all new members of the staff. 

The salary of the position is determined in accordance with the salary system for Finnish universities. The salary comprises two components: a job-related salary element and a personal salary element. In this position, the job -related salary element for the Professor is EUR 5,471.95 – 8,063.25/month, based on levels 8-11 of the job requirement level chart for teaching and research staff and for the Associate Professor EUR 4,525.66/month, based on level 7 of the job requirement level chart for teaching and research staff. The personal salary element can be a minimum of 6 % and a maximum of 50 % of the above-mentioned sums.

• a doctoral degree in a relevant field,
• experience in the management of and working in research projects,
• demonstrated achievements in the acquisition of research funding and in international activities,
• excellent written and spoken language skills in English, 
• experience in teaching and supervision.
