Associate Professor (Tenure Track) / Professor, Biblical Studies

The University of Eastern Finland is inviting applications for a Associate Professor (Tenure Track) / Professor, Biblical Studies position. The position will be filled  from 1 August 2027 or as agreed. Please find more information below and submit your application no later than 14 September 2026.  

Role and salary

As our new Associate Professor (Tenure Track) / Professor, Biblical Studies, you will be working in the School of Theology at the Philosophical Faculty. The position is located in Joensuu, Finland.   

The position will be filled from 1 August 2027 or as agreed. A probationary period is applied to all new members of the UEF staff.   

The salary of the position is based on the salary system for the teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. In the case of a Professor, the salary is based on levels 8-11 of the job requirement level chart (EUR 5,471.95 – 8,063.25 /month) of the salary system for the teaching and research staff of Finnish universities and in the case of an Associate Professor, on level 7 of the job requirement level chart (EUR 4,525.66 /month). In addition to the job requirement component, the salary s supplemented with a personal salary element, which may be a maximum of 50 % of the job-related salary element.

• a complete list of publications (Instructions, Research Council of Finland website)
•  a. a list of publications (no more than 10, numbered and indexed) and other works with which the applicant wishes to demonstrate their qualification and merits for the post, and
  b. the publications and other works referred to in the list.
• a plan (no more than 2 pages) of the applicant’s views on how to develop the field with regard to research, education and societal interaction
• copies of the applicant’s academic degree certificates / diplomas
• copies of certificates / diplomas relating to the applicant’s language proficiency, if not indicated in the academic degree certificates / diplomas.

The application with its appendices (excluding publications and the requested diplomas/certificates) should be submitted in English in case the applicants’ qualification and merits are assessed by international experts.
