We are seeking a trainee to support the Coordination Unit of the Finnish University Partnership for International Development (UniPID). The trainee will mostly work remotely at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies of the University of Eastern Finland on the Joensuu campus in spring 2026. UniPID is looking for a trainee to support the Coordination Unit, particularly in communications and the implementation of ongoing UniPID projects. UniPID coordinates and participates in a number of externally funded projects. These projects support the Finnish research community in collaborative partnerships with actors in the Global South.

The Finnish University Partnership for International Development (UniPID) is a network of ten Finnish universities. It was established in 2002 to strengthen the capacity of its member universities to advance global responsibility and Global South perspectives in their education, research and societal engagement. UniPID also promotes equitable and inclusive global partnerships that support sustainable development. UniPID is being coordinated by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies of the University of Eastern Finland.

Role and salary

The trainee will assist UniPID’s Coordination Unit in communications and the organisation of events, as well as in project administration and the implementation of key project tasks. The main duties of the trainee are described below.

Communications: Assisting in the coordination of communications. This may include managing social media channels, drafting newsletters, and planning and implementing communications materials on the activities of the network and its projects in order to reach Finnish and international audiences.

  • Organising virtual and on-site events: assisting in the planning and organisation of events and meetings, including participant registration and management, technical support and reporting.
  • Project administration: participating in the coordination, reporting and planning of projects, and in daily project tasks.

The trainee will mostly work remotely at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies of the University of Eastern Finland on the Joensuu campus in spring 2026. The preferred starting date of the position is in April-May and duration 2–3 months. The traineeship includes 1–2 on-site working days. The trainee must receive a training subsidy granted by the university. For more information on subsidy practices, see the Aarresaari website. The salary is EUR 1,500 a month.
